Supporting an Active Lifestyle
I'm a huge proponent of being active outdoors. Being outdoors in nature gets us out of our houses and out of our heads. It offers fun, joy, and community. Being active supports a healthy body. But sometimes, we need to incorporate movement and strengthening practices off the board so we can continue to enjoy or excel at our outdoor pursuits.
So, what's unique about this yoga practice?
What's unique is the merging of my knowledge and experience with yoga and my knowledge and experience with paddling. Having paddled for more then 12 years I've personally experienced repetitive injuries, physical limitations, and have had to optimize technique and learned new ways to work with an ever changing body. Having taught SUP for more than 8 years I've worked with folks of all ages, and fitness levels, and have see it all ;) often working to finding the tools needed to get folks where they want to go. What I see time and time again is mobility, strength, and confidence holding folks back or keeping them at their current level.
What I've learned is that technique is important, but how we prepare our bodies and minds is just as important, if not more. The best technique still wont work unless our body can support the work and make the shapes we are trying to move into. I've adopted my yoga practice to improve my paddling and hope to share what I've learned with you.
Why yoga? Mobility, strength, breath, mental focus and resilience. For cardio, we get back on the board :) We practice to support our paddling, but in reality we are practicing both yoga and paddling to support healthy lives.

I acknowledge that my work takes place on unceded and traditional shared territories of the Coast Salish peoples – xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.I recognize these nations and peoples as the founders and custodians of the lands and waters.
